Antabax, Malaysia’s number 1 Halal antibacterial personal care range, celebrated the power of Malaysia through a live graffiti battle with 14 of the country’s best graffiti artists and their crews spraying their way to RM20,000 in cash at the National Art Gallery on 10 September 2017.

The live graffiti battle was the culmination of the month long Antabax Graffiti Competition 2017
that was held in conjunction with the 60th anniversary of independence. With the theme of POWER Malaysia, graffiti artists from across the nation were challenged to interpret the dynamic spirit and uniqueness of the country.

The competition received hundreds of online entries that were then whittled down to 55 before the final 14 artists and crews, to represent the 14 Malaysian states, were shortlisted by a panel of
judges from the National Art Gallery, graffiti artists and representatives from Antabax.

The prize money of RM20,000 cash is believed to be among the largest offered for a graffiti competition in the country. The finalists had 3.5 hours to fill a 2.4m by 2.4m panel with their
vision of Malaysian POWER, using spray paint as the main medium.

The Antabax live graffiti battle was won by Mohd Zulfadli Bin Ahmad Nawawi, also known as Akid1, received RM7,500 in cash; second place went to the Mohd Zaki Bin Nordin also known as Escapeva, who received RM4,500; while the 3 Serangkai crew, of Katun and Siek, came third winning RM2,500, in a close fought competition.
Eleven consolation winners received RM500 each.
All finalists also received Antabax hampers, and spray paint worth RM200, each.

Antabax is a proudly Malaysian personal care brand that is recognized for its 24-hours antibacterial protection. It was named the fastest growing Malaysian brand in the antibacterial personal care category1 and all of its products are certified Halal.

The brand has championed Malaysian arts, culture and heritage activities through numerous
award-winning campaigns towards promoting active, healthy lifestyles, and bring communities closer.

The Antabax POWER campaign is its latest nationwide initiative. Aside from the Graffiti competition, the campaign also includes the Juara POWER Antabax schoolyard games.

Mr Francis Ng, Senior General Manager, Household & Personal Care Department, Marketing Division, Lam Soon Edible Oils Sdn Bhd said: “The Antabax POWER campaign celebrates
what makes Malaysia a unique nation through the spirit and power of its people.
The interpretation of what makes Malaysia potent may differ but the underlying feeling and
power is there.”He also introduced the Juara POWER Antabax schoolyard games as a means of preserving the heritage of play, and of introducing the younger generation to the games their
parents were champions at.

“Antabax understands that our Malaysian heritage includes games such as Oh Som, Lat Tali Lat,
Five Stones, Chap Teh, Bottle Caps, Zero Point, and even the eraser fights we used to engage in during classes. We felt that reintroducing these games would help to tear kids and teens away from their mobile devices, creating moments of family bonding, for healthy, active lifestyle,” he added.

Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohamed Najib Ahmad Dawa, Director General of National Art Gallery, said: “Events such as these are very much in keeping with the National Art Gallery’s objective of
making art, culture and heritage an integral part of daily Malaysian life. We need to teach our population to appreciate and value art from young. We find that public-private collaborations
such as this one with Antabax helps in amplifying awareness and creating interest in art forms
such as graffiti and in the games of our childhood.

“Which is why we are extremely pleased when Antabax proposed to collaborate with us on the Antabax Graffiti Competition 2017, because such initiatives are seen as a crucial platform for our local graffiti artists to become entrepreneurs, where they are able to generate a steady form of
income and be financially independent.”
